As I sat in front of a blank screen, unsure of what to write today, the phrase ‘Carpe Diem’ came into my head…Seize the Day.
How do we seize the day on a daily basis, when there is so much ‘stuff’ to do…? Much as I would love to just take today off and walk around the park, reflecting on the beauty of nature, the autumnal colours, the beautiful silence… I can’t because I have things to do, responsibilities…all that stuff that gets in the way of just seizing the day.
So if its not possible right now to seize the day (end of the month admin and accounts and form filling obligations), what if I were to at least ‘seize a moment’?
It takes seconds to express gratitude and appreciation for some of the wonderful things we have in our lives. What if I were to seize a moment to watch the sun rise; hug one of my loved ones; smile at a stranger.
It takes only moments to let a friend know you are thinking of them; log in to book tickets to the play you have been meaning to see for ever; pop across to see if your elderly neighbour is OK.
It takes an hour or two to take the dog for a wonderful fresh country walk; go to the cinema with a friend; phone a distant relative for a chat.
Please, be spontaneous, do something other than ‘be too busy’ today. In fact, seize a moment every day, because we never know just when those moments may stop coming…
