Gratitude always helps

As I look back on 2015, everything that has happened, the ups and downs, the experiences (good and less good), I am so grateful for my life…every part of it.

I held a Gratitude Circle for my close friends the other day. One of the readings I randomly selected tickled my rather dry sense of humour:

“Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little; and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick; and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so let us all be thankful” – Buddha

Every cloud has a silver lining and all that…although sometimes it is flipping challenging to see it in the moment. So as I look back now, I can reflect and notice those hidden gems of learning in every experience…and I can see how all of those experiences helped me to grow – they all contributed to making me the person I am today…a year older and a little wiser, if nothing else!

So what gems of wisdom did I pick up in 2015?

Well, I have previously mentioned the power of PAUSING…taking that one deep breath (or 10) gives me enough time to consider any situation from a more elevated perspective.

I’ve learned to be more AWARE of my internal dialogue, and I’m better at recognising whether its coming from head, heart or gut. Again, I can then make more informed decisions as a result.

And I’ve learned to be more willing to OPEN my heart; let those barriers down and be more willing to love and be loved.

So, rather than making a list of resolutions on 1st January, I will be reflecting on the wisdom I have gained in 2015, and looking forward to benefitting from this even more in the new year…with gratitude, grace and ease.

Wishing you the very best for 2016…and beyond xx
