Oh crikey, it’s December again…I can no longer afford to ignore the fact that Christmas really is just around the corner.
Life has become so busy at the moment, despite all my plans to hibernate, slow down, breathe…I am very aware that the words I speak are the lessons I could do with learning, especially around busy-ness!
This morning, after a good dose of gratitude during my morning practices, I connected with all our children (four boys in total, plus one awesome fiancee), to say how grateful I was to have them in my life.
I really wanted ideas for Christmas presents, so I ditched the sentimentality very quickly and got on with the practicalities of present ideas!
It does serve as a reminder, though, that especially at this time of year, our presence is worth so much more than presents…maybe I’m just getting old, but with all the busy-ness, I value those that I love making time for me and equally, me making time for them.
I still haven’t worked out how to create an extra day a week, or an extra couple of hours in each day (Santa, take note – that would be an awesome present!)…in the meantime, I am learning to be more discerning with how I spend my time and will make sure I do give enough time to our lovely children…not just over the festive season, but next year too.
I know that involves saying the word ‘no’ more often…and I am sure that is a blog for another day.
Happy (not black) Friday xx
